Money Manifesto Online Income Report – July 2018

Welcome to the July 2018 edition of the Money Manifesto Online Income Report.

Each month, I detail exactly how much money I’ve made online and how I earned it.

I don’t share my online income to brag.

Instead, I share my income to inspire others that earning money online is possible.

If you asked me if I’d be making a great full-time living earning money online when I was just graduating from college, I would have told you that you’re crazy.

Thankfully, I’ve figured out it is possible and anyone can do it if they’re willing to put in the work.

The other reason I share these reports is to keep myself accountable to my income goals.

Now that I earn the vast majority of my family’s income, it’s more important than ever.

The idea of reporting that I’ve missed my income goal is pretty daunting, so it’s a good motivator for me.

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s explore what I learned about self-employment this month and dig into the income part of the report.

What I Learned About Self-Employment In July

July was my busiest month of self-employment yet.

While it was awesome to earn more money, I find myself feeling a bit stressed because I always feel like there is something I should be doing to grow my business or complete my assignments.

I’ve learned that I need to find a way to set boundaries between personal time and work time. Since I work at home, it’s very difficult to accomplish. I haven’t figured out how I’m going to make it happen yet, but I need to come up with something.

I love the flexibility that working from home as a freelancer provides, but it’s definitely a double-edged sword. We’ll see what the future brings, but hopefully, it’s a bit more balance.

July 2018 Online Income Earned – $9,356.71

July was my best income month ever! I earned $9,356.71. If I keep this up, that’s over $100,000 per year which is just insane to me. Here’s exactly how I earned my income this month.

Freelance Writing Income

Freelance writing was by far the biggest contributor to my best income month ever. In July, I started writing for a new client. In addition, this was the first full month I had a few of the clients I picked up in June.

The combination of this new work, along with my long-time freelance writing clients, made July an amazing income month.

Of course, all of these new clients meant I was writing a lot more, too. I definitely spent more hours freelance writing than I ever have before, but it was totally worth it.

If you want to get started freelance writing, you should seriously consider taking Holly Johnson’s Earn More Writing course.

I learned a few tips and tricks that helped me increase my income after I had been freelancing for a couple years, but it has everything you need to know to get started as a beginner, too. You can read my review of the Earn More Writing course here.

Traditional Advertising Income

Traditional advertising income hit yet another all-time high thanks to Mediavine. I worked to increase my traffic and optimize my site a bit which helped boost up my traditional advertising income.

Unfortunately, when it comes to increasing my traffic, I haven’t found the magic formula yet. While July’s traffic was amazing, especially for the summer, I don’t know if I’ll be able to repeat it and the record income in August.

This is especially true as I spend more time focusing on freelance writing. Time will tell.

If you have a website with over 25,000 monthly sessions, you need to give Mediavine a shot. It should easily boost your traditional advertising revenue, especially if you use Adsense or Media.net.

Affiliate Income

I earn a small portion of my income through affiliate marketing. Essentially, I earn money by referring others to a product or service I love.

The advertiser wins because they get new customers, you (the reader) win because you get exposed to awesome new products and services I believe in and I win because I earn some money to help support my family.

As long as you stick by your values and only promote products and services you believe in, which I do, affiliate marketing is a great way to earn money.

For instance, I’ve been a long-time fan of Republic Wireless as a cell phone carrier. They offer WiFi calling and texting which is pretty awesome.

It’s even more awesome when you realize they charge just $15 per month for unlimited talk and text and just $5 per GB of data each month.

I plan to take Michelle’s Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing course by the end of the year to help me grow this portion of my income. If you’re interested in the course, you can learn more about it here.

Branded Content Income

Branded content is another great way to earn money, but only if you accept deals that make sense for you and your brand.

Branded content is an article where a brand pays you to mention their product or service or gives you free product or service to review.

I don’t take these opportunities very often anymore, but two recent examples are my Nectar mattress review and my Leesa mattress review. I believe in the products and also believe that readers can save money by buying mattresses online rather than in a mattress store.

The best part is, both companies offer long return periods if you end up not liking them.

Start Your Own Online Business With A Blog Or Website

If you want to earn money online, you need to have a way to be found online. While you can use websites like Facebook or LinkedIn to set up a profile, it helps to have your own website.

Whether you create a static website or a blog, it helps legitimize your business. Personally, I’ve found it almost always works out that starting a Self-Hosted WordPress blog is the best option for most people.

I recommend using SiteGround as your host because they’re super customer focused and offer a great product at an attractive price.

If you want to start your blog or website today, check out my step by step guide to starting a Self-Hosted WordPress blog using SiteGround.

I walk you through the whole process so you don’t get caught up because you don’t know which option to select like I did when I started.

You can use your blog or website as a place to host your portfolio of freelance writing examples or photography examples.

You could turn your blog into a money making machine by building traffic and a loyal following.

You could even use a blog to drive traffic to a physical or online store where you sell your products.

The options to make money through a blog or website are endless. The key is getting started.

What questions do you have about my online income reports or about starting your own blog or website? Let me know in the comments or send me an email. I’d be happy to answer them!
